SeeSaw provides support for children, young people and their families in Oxfordshire when they have been bereaved or when somebody close to them is terminally ill.
SeeSaw was established in 1999 and have more than 20 years experience in providing high quality grief support to help reduce the emotional, psychological and mental health consequences of bereavement.
SeeSaw’s vision is to offer free support before and after a bereavement for all children and young people in Oxfordshire, if they need it. Each year SeeSaw provides support for over 500 bereaved children. SeeSaw work directly with children and young people and provide advice to families on how to support their child themselves, either in person, by phone or online. SeeSaw also offer support to schools and professionals working with bereaved children and provide online resources accessible to all.
Major holidays such as Christmas can be a particularly tough period for recently bereaved children and young people. A Grant by Project Spark enabled SeeSaw to provide a ‘preparing for the holidays’ box to 20 families in Oxfordshire, where children have been bereaved of a parent or sibling in the last year. These boxes contain advice, gifts and activities to help the families prepare for the holidays whilst remembering their loved ones.
